Workplace first aid requirements depend on the size, type, and level of risk within your organisation. Nominated staff may need to complete either Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work training to ensure they can provide effective support during a workplace emergency.
What First Aid Training Does My Organisation Need?
Depending on your workplace requirements, trained first aiders should be available to carry out essential first aid duties in the event of an accident or emergency.
Which First Aid Course Should I Choose?
Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day)
Suitable for lower-risk workplaces such as offices and shops, particularly where there are fewer than 50 employees.
First Aid at Work (3 Days)
Suitable for higher-risk workplaces such as manufacturing sites and workshops, or organisations with more than 50 employees.
How Many People Do You Need Trained?
A minimum of two trained first aiders per building is recommended, allowing cover when another first aider is unavailable.

- Bone, muscle, and joint injuries, including suspected spinal injuries
- Chest injuries
- Poisoning
- Burns and scalds
- Eye injuries
- Anaphylactic shock and treatment
- Recognising major illnesses and providing appropriate first aid, including:
- Heart attacks
- Stroke
- Epilepsy
- Asthma
- Diabetes
