Introduction:
This Train the Trainer course equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills required to deliver effective end-of-life care training within their organisation. Participants will develop the confidence to design and deliver engaging sessions, communicate sensitive information effectively, and support teams in providing compassionate, dignified, and person-centred care for individuals approaching the end of life.
Designed for healthcare professionals responsible for training staff, the course focuses on developing competence and confidence in applying best-practice principles for end-of-life and palliative care.
Course Objectives
Trainer Development:
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a trainer, including legal obligations and professional standards
- Explore how people learn, including learning styles, cycles, and effective communication methods
- Develop skills in course planning, lesson structure, and use of training resources
- Understand assessment methods, feedback, and mentoring techniques
- Design and deliver a mini training session to support safe practice
End of Life Care Knowledge:
- Understand and apply the 6 principles of end-of-life care
- Describe the holistic approach to palliative care
- Understand pain assessment processes and symptom management
- Recognise different types, symptoms, and treatments of pain
- Identify palliative care emergencies and appropriate responses
- Develop effective communication skills and recognise communication barriers
- Understand advance care planning and decision-making processes
- Understand legislative requirements surrounding end-of-life care
- Explore ways to improve patient wellbeing
